When you are experiencing psychological difficulties, it can be hard to know what might be happening for you, or your child, and this can be worrying.

Having a psychological assessment can either act as a mental health ‘MOT’, or it can formalise a mental health diagnosis.

Equilibrium Practice is able to assess:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - 3 Step Online Process
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - 4 Step Online Process
  • Sensory Processing Difficulties
  • Communication Difficulties
  • IQ

With increasing waiting lists in both statutory child, and adult, mental health services, having a prompt private psychological assessment can enable you to be informed about your difficulties, or your child's difficulties, enabling you to make timely decisions about the most suitable treatment options - early assessment and intervention is likely to lead to better health outcomes for you, or your child.

All individual assessments follow the NICE Guidance using NHS-compliant clinical assessment tools and qualified practitioners. Because we follow this guidance rigorously, our assessments are accepted by GPs, the NHS and Local Authorities in your local area across the UK.

All assessments can sit alongside psychological therapy.

Equilibrium Practice will be celebrating Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2025 (17 - 23 March) to:

  • Increase acceptance and understanding
  • Provide education
  • Celebrate neurodiversity

Child (5-17) or Adult (18-60) ADHD 3-Step Online Assessment Process

Step 1: Free No-Obligation 15-Minute ADHD Triage Consultation

Schedule a free, no-obligation 15-minute triage consultation with a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. During this call you will be asked some structured screening questions about your symptoms (adult assessment), or your child's symptoms (child assessment) to determine if a full ADHD assessment is clinically appropriate (ADHD Symptom Test, ASRS v1).

If the assessment is not clinically appropriate, you may be signposted to other helpful services.

If the assessment is clinically appropriate, we will arrange a full private ADHD assessment appointment with you (adult assessment), or you (parents/carers/guardians) and your child (child assessment), within 7 days, or at a time that suits you.

Step 2: Full Private ADHD Assessment Appointment

You (adult assessment), or you and your child (child assessment), will meet with a Consultant Clinical Psychologist online via a secure therapy platform using a dedicated video link at the time of your appointment.

During this appointment, you (adult assessment), or you and your child (child assessment) will be asked multiple questions using NICE and NHS-compliant ADHD assessment tools (Conners 4, DIVA-5 Child/Adult, QbCheck). For child assessment, your child's teacher will also be asked to complete a questionnaire.

Step 3: NHS-Compliant Diagnosis and Treatment Recommendations Appointment

You (adult assessment), or you and your child (child assessment), will meet again with the same Consultant Clinical Psychologist online, using the same dedicated video link at the time of your appointment.

If you are not diagnosed with ADHD, you will be provided with a short report and NHS-compliant letter with the outcome of your assessment. You may be signposted to other helpful services.

Testimonials

I have worked with Equilibrium Practice in my role as Case Manager since 2023. The practitioner is caring, efficient, very knowledgeable and responsive. The reports are thorough and accessible to both clients and the multidisciplinary team. It is a pleasure to work with Equilibrium Practice. Fiona Reeks, Clinical Case Manager & Occupational Therapist & Director of ERGO OTS Ltd

My practitioner has enabled me to recover from depression, which I have had for a very long time. I've learned to cope differently and have got my life back. Thank you. John

I suffered with panic disorder and generalised anxiety disorder for many years. Initially it impacted my life minimally, but eventually it consumed everything and I couldn't even work. I had tried various therapies before finding Equilibrium Practice, by which point I did not believe recovery was possible for me. My clinician is very skilled and experienced, kind and patient, and ensured I felt supported during each of my appointments. The treatment plan was clear and easy to follow, and my only regret is that I didn't find them sooner. It's hard to explain the difference in me today. I've not had a panic attack since completing my treatment. If anyone is unsure about reaching out, please do. I thought that was something you just have to live with, but it's not. You can recover and live free of anxiety and panic attacks. Amanda

My practitioner is an excellent listener and a bastion of common sense when I need it, while also bringing a level of sympathy that she achieves through her vigilance to know and understand me. When I'm working with them, I feel free to express my views and struggles without fear of judgement. My practitoner is clearly very committed to her role as a therapist and will ensure that my struggles are heard and resolved. Tiernan

During my autism assessment, my clinicians ensured that the proper procedures were followed and were very thorough in making sure that all the information was recorded. Tiernan
